Tremor-Compensating Spoon
This is a meal-assistance device developed to help users with hand tremors, such as those caused by Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor - eat more comfortably. It is designed to detect the user’s tremors inside the handle and compensate for the movement in the opposite direction, ensuring the spoon head maintains a stable position. While naturally following the user’s intentional movements during meals, the device selectively reduces only irregular hand tremors, minimizing the inconvenience of spilling food and enabling users to eat more independently. Additionally, by utilizing a 3D-printing-based manufacturing process, production costs have been reduced compared to existing, high-priced imported assistive tableware, and the design can be modified or customized to suit the user’s specific characteristics and needs.
