GelCODE®
GelCODE® is an adhesive biomaterial under development for corneal repair, based on porcine cornea-derived decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) and photocrosslinking technology. It is applied to the damaged corneal area in liquid form and rapidly forms a gel upon blue-light irradiation, enabling it to fill the defect and adhere securely to the surrounding tissue.By utilizing dECM that retains the tissue-specific bioactive components and microenvironment of the native cornea, GelCODE® is designed to protect the damaged area and provide a favorable environment for tissue recovery. The product is being developed as a minimally invasive treatment option that may reduce the need for suturing and the burden associated with complex surgical procedures.
GelCODE® is a next-generation regenerative medical device under development for potential application in corneal ulcers and various other types of corneal damage.
