L14 Complex
L14® is a science-driven postbiotic brand based on Lactiplantibacillus plantarum L-14 (KCTC13497BP), a proprietary strain isolated from traditional Korean fermented food, protected by a global patent portfolio, and deposited with KCTC under the Budapest Treaty. As postbiotics gain attention for stability, safety, and shelf life, L14® offers a practical alternative to viability-dependent probiotic formats.
Evidence spans cell, animal, and human studies. A study published in SCIE-indexed Cell Proliferation (JIF 8.8 at publication) showed that L-14-derived exopolysaccharide (EPS) activated AMPK through TLR2 and inhibited adipocyte differentiation. A study published in IJMS found that EPS modulated TLR4/MyD88, NF-κB, and MAPK signaling and reduced IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1β. Studies published in Journal of Functional Foods and Journal of Medicinal Food showed that L-14 shifts lipid metabolism by reducing fat formation and storage while increasing pathways that use stored fat for energy.
In high-fat-diet mouse models, L-14 improved body weight, fat mass, hepatic steatosis, and insulin-resistance markers. Key metabolic effects were retained in heat-treated culture-dried L-14, showing that key bioactivity can be preserved without viable cells. In a 12-week human intervention study, L-14 reduced total fat mass, trunk fat percentage, and BMI while preserving lean mass in the trunk, including muscle. Based on these results, an application for recognition by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as an individually recognized functional ingredient for body-fat reduction has been submitted and is under review. This evidence positions L14® as a differentiated Korean-origin ingredient with mechanistic depth, human validation, regulatory progress, and commercial readiness. Backed by seven peer-reviewed publications, human data, and commercial products, NeoRegen seeks partners for co-development, ingredient supply, and global distribution.
